This is not true. There appears to be no correlation between ordinary infant acne and teenage acne. However, since most teenagers do suffer from acne, it is true that most babies who experience infant acne will also develop the teenage form. But, then, so will the majority of teenagers who never showed symptoms of the disease as newborns.
However, the situation here is even a little more confused because there is one form of infant acne that is hereditary, usually from the father. Left untreated, it would persist for months or years in the infant and would be very likely to recur in the teenager.
Thus this old wives' tale has some basis in fact, - even though it is not generally true.
